Restrict Field Sections by User Role in WordPress

With Real Estate Manager you can restrict field sections so that entire groups of property details only appear for the people you choose. Set any section to public, agents, registered users, or administrators, and visitors who do not qualify see a clean login prompt instead of the hidden fields. It is built into the plugin, so you gate premium or private listing details without a membership plugin or a single line of code.

What does restrict field sections do?

Field sections are the groups your property fields live in, such as Details, Features, or Internal Structure. The restrict field sections feature adds an Accessibility setting to every one of those groups. Instead of controlling a single field, you control a whole section at once, deciding who can view it on the front end. Set it once on the section and every field inside it follows the same rule.

How to restrict a property field section

  1. Go to Real Estate Manager and open Field Sections. You will see every section you created in the fields builder.
  2. Open the section you want to control, for example Details.
  3. Set its Section Title, a Data Name in lowercase with no spaces, and an icon using a Font Awesome class or an image URL.
  4. Choose an Accessibility level: Public, Agent, Registered Users, Administrator, or Disable.
  5. Click Save Sections. Every field inside that section now follows the access rule you set.

Five accessibility levels for every section

Each section can be set to one of five access levels, so you can match any business model from a fully open portal to a clients only listing service.

Public

The section is visible to everyone, including guests who are not logged in. This is the default for standard listing details.

Agent

Only logged in agents can view the section. Useful for internal notes, commission details, or owner contacts meant for your team.

Registered Users

Any logged in user can view the section. Guests see a login prompt, which turns your best listing details into a reason to register.

Administrator

Only administrators can view the section. Ideal for private records you want stored with the listing but never shown publicly.

Disable

The section is switched off and hidden from the listing entirely, without deleting any of its fields.

Gate your premium listings

Keep price, full gallery, or exact address inside a restricted section so only registered users can see them. Casual browsers get a preview, serious buyers create an account, and you capture a lead in the process.

Show owner contacts to agents only

Put seller phone numbers and private remarks in an Agent only section. Your team sees everything they need on the listing while the public never does. For single fields rather than whole groups, pair this with restrict listing fields.

Stop bots with a protected login

The login prompt that replaces a restricted section includes a keep me signed in option and works alongside Google reCAPTCHA, so your gated content stays safe from spam logins.

Pair it with the fields builder

Sections come straight from the custom fields builder, so restricting access is just one more setting on the groups you already use to organize your listing data.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are field sections in Real Estate Manager?

Field sections are named groups that hold your property fields, like Details, Features, or Internal Structure. You create them in the fields builder and use them to keep listing data organized.

How do I hide property details until a visitor logs in?

Open the section that holds those details, set its Accessibility to Registered Users, and save. Guests then see a login prompt in place of the section, while logged in users see the full content.

Can I show some details only to my agents?

Yes. Set the section Accessibility to Agent and only logged in agents can view it, which is ideal for owner contacts or internal notes.

Do I need a membership plugin to restrict listing content?

No. The restriction is built into Real Estate Manager. You choose an access level on each section, with no extra membership plugin and no code.

What happens to the fields inside a restricted section?

Every field in the section follows the section access rule automatically, so you set the rule once instead of editing each field.

Can I completely hide a section without deleting it?

Yes. Set its Accessibility to Disable and the section is removed from the listing while all its fields and data stay safely in place.

Does the login prompt protect against spam?

The login form supports a keep me signed in option and works with Google reCAPTCHA, helping keep gated sections safe from automated logins.
